1: How We Christians can Change Ourselves and the World
response to it, which allow us to abide with God’s Word. The Holy Spirit demonstrates God’s meaning in every Christian Life. The question here is how we can know the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and what the Spirit can do for us. For example, when we are in difficulties, we may understand that God has power and authority to overcome such difficulties, therefore we need to focus on God. As Christians, we are called to do what is biblical, before we can demonstrate through our actions and words the truth of the Bible that proclaims God’s love, care and peace, to save the lives of God’s people in the world. This is a very difficult task and a significant responsibility, because we have to demonstrate this in practical terms, and it takes our love and commitment to do it. There is a real danger that we might proclaim the Gospel without experiencing it ourselves, or knowing its application, and effects. Many of us study the Bible and preach it, but we do not know its rules, applications and effects. We may even not want to know, since we are not concerned about the effect of the Bible in our lives and public life. In fact, if we understood and knew how to apply the Word of God, we would be able to solve problems and save the lives of the people of God.
Fear of God
Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all. (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:27–28)
The words fear God and keep His commandments here are our whole Gospel duty. To fear God is our submission to God and other people, speaking the truth and keeping our promises. The scriptures above tell us to fear God, because whatever God does shall be forever, and it is God who will bring every work, including every secret thing, to
